The Very Good Estimator

What does insulation actually cost for your house?

Type your address. We look up your home in county records and give you a number in about 15 seconds. No form. No phone call. No one shows up at your door.

Three steps, no runaround

1

Enter your address

We look up your square footage, year built, and how many stories from the county appraisal district. Same data your property taxes are based on.

2

Get a real number

One price, not a range. Covers insulation and air sealing. Oncor rebate already subtracted.

3

Book a free attic check

Someone comes out, looks at what's actually in your attic, and tells you if the estimate needs adjusting. 30 minutes, no cost.

Common Questions

How close is the estimate to the real price?
We use your home's actual square footage, year built, and structure from county property records. The estimate covers insulation to code depth plus air sealing. Before any work starts, someone checks your attic in person and adjusts the number if needed. That adjustment is usually small.
Can't I just rent a blower from Home Depot and do it myself?
You can. The machine is free with purchase and the material runs about $500-1,000. What you won't get is air sealing — plugging the gaps around can lights, plumbing pipes, and HVAC chases where most of your conditioned air is actually escaping. You also won't know if your existing insulation is wet, damaged, or hiding a rodent problem until you're standing in it. Our price includes all of that, plus measured coverage to code depth and a 25-year warranty.
What's the Oncor rebate?
Oncor runs an energy efficiency program that pays you back about $0.15 for every square foot of attic you insulate to R-30 or better. We subtract it from your estimate automatically. The program opens in February and runs until the money is gone, usually by late fall.
Do I need to be home for the attic check?
Yeah — we need to get into the attic, which usually means going through a hatch in a closet or hallway. The whole thing takes about 30 minutes and there's no cost or obligation.
